On Wednesday 20th May 2015, I had my first experience of the whole marquee erection process here at Central Marquees. As a newbie to the company, we thought it was important for me to go along with the boys to see the entire process of erecting a marquee, from the initial site survey to the marquee going up and being completed.
I had previously attended a site survey at the customer’s home the week before. Our free of charge site surveys allow us to understand the event better and it was a great way for me to see where the marquee was to be erected, meet the family and talk over what they required and what we could offer.
It was an early start on Wednesday as we headed up to the outskirts of Oban at 6am to put up the 12m x 27m Clear Span Style Marquee and the 6m x 6m Catering Marquee. The Mellor Family are holding a wedding reception on Saturday 23rd of May on their land and required a marquee big enough to hold 160 guests seated as well as a dance floor, space for the band, a catering marquee and baffle screen. They requested 6 x 3m panoramic window walls, 2 Double Glass doors, chandeliers, uplighters and fairy lights.
We arrived at 8.30am and the floor was first to go down. The framework was next and it was incredible to see how much work goes in to getting the frame of the marquee up!
The doors were put in, followed by the PVC walls and roof.
2 x 18 arm brass chandeliers, 10 uplighters and 10 strings of warm fairy lights were then put in place. We then began the lining for the roof and walls.
The Catering Marquee was last to go up as well as the baffle screen, and the flooring and dance floor were gleaming after a good mop! As you can see, the end result looked fab!
It was a long day and I can’t pretend I wasn’t exhausted after 12 hours of helping the boys but the hard work paid off when we were told how pleased the family was with the marquee.
Thankfully it was a beautiful day in a beautiful setting, with views to die for which made the whole process a lot easier. I have great respect for Sam and the boys who go out and do this regularly and I will be thinking of them from the comfort of my office chair in the future!
WE HOPE THE MELLOR FAMILY HAVE A FANTASTIC DAY ON SATURDAY AND WISH THE BRIDE AND GROOM A LIFE TIME OF HAPPINESS!
